A big part of the Mindbender 99Ti is K2's Ti Y-Beam construction. Rather than being a solid titanium core, the ski uses an Aspen wood core reinforced with a specifically shaped Titanal layer. The Y-shaped metal reinforcement is designed to give the ski a damp, stable feel at speed, strong turn initiation, and support through the tail while still allowing the ski to stay maneuverable.
