This email is full of interesting information about the outdoors and the Colorado Springs outdoor gear community.
GearonimoSports is a small, family-owned organization. We are given a lot of freedom, and today, I'm going to explore that freedom by telling you about some unique happenings around our organization.
Let me start with the most interesting idea going around the shop this week.
It all starts with a pair of mannequin butt cheeks. It's a mannequin, but just from above the knee to the hip. We have been using it to display climbing harnesses, but we have recently hatched a semi-serious plan to use it as a mold for a pair of climbing hold butt cheeks.
I am convinced that if we can turn this mannequin into an anatomy-accurate, butt cheek-shaped climbing hold, we will bring in some serious business to our organization. I run an entirely unserious Instagram account for our store and our partner business, Pure Bouldering Gym. We want to put the butt cheeks on the wall and make some social media content on it in hopes that the jokes and viral nature of something so absurd will bring climbers in. Then, if it works, we can sell these butt cheek holds on our Gearonimo website. It's foolproof.
Why We Do This
I am 22 years old. I went to school for outdoor recreation. But I also grew up on the internet, playing video games, and working on a computer. I always wondered how I was going to impossibly combine the two things I loved: the outdoors and technology.
I have recently fallen into an entirely unique position here at Gearonimo where I get to use the power of technology and social media to get people outside more often, and at better prices. I am extremely grateful. Follow us on Instagram for some completely unserious content.
I am telling you this because we want you to know who we are and what we believe in. We aren't operated by a massive corporation. We are a very small team that is genuinely passionate about doing business in a new way. The right way. The way that has the world and our communities' best interests at heart.
If you're reading this, you already know the power of the outdoors. Now, we want to show you how the complete opposite of that, the internet, can actually help you experience the outdoors more often. This is our goal: help the environment, get people outside, and do it at prices that you can actually afford in this economy. We are fighting fire with fire.
The Gearonimo Fire Sale
We are hosting a "fire" sale because our home state of Colorado and the surrounding states are struggling with some seriously bad fire conditions. July 25 is also a huge day for our community. We are hosting a live music concert at our brick-and-mortar store in Colorado Springs. We are collecting vendors and organizations from our community, as well as some killer local bands, to put on a community night to remember. The entire gear store will be running 15% off all day that day. So if you're nearby, come say hi and enjoy some music, food, drinks, and good company with like-minded people.
Fresh one-of-one gear
Our outdoor gear is mainly one-of-one. We buy this gear from local outdoorspeople who are not using it anymore, and we sell it back to other people who can give it a second life. This means when something good comes in, it goes fast.
